Snow on New Years Day

Thomas and I have were hoping to hike Mount Saint Helena in the early hours of the morning on New Years day to catch the sun rise. Since it was raining we decided to sleep in and give it a go later in the day.
Glad we did because a rainy cold day in Santa Rosa looks very different at 4,343 feet elevation. What sun rise?

We weren't the only ones that made the trek that day.

At times it wasn't snowing but the rain that was making it down was turning into ice. Very, very cold.

We couldn't imagine a better way to spend the day. The round trip took us less than 4 hours and we covered 11.2 miles.
